Bingo History

Bingo originated in Italy and it was founded in the 16th century. It was a game where you could do through the Italian lottery, Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia. This lottery was founded 1530 and still exists. This lottery takes approximately 80 million euros per year and is the main income of the Italian Government. After Italy blew the Bingo Game over to France and in 1778 the French founded a lottery called Le Lotto, and they also in this lottery was the main bingo game.

The name is derived from the word Bingo Beano as the game used to be called. Beano's name comes from the beans that were once used to cover the tracks when these cases.

The game was really popular when a toy salesman from New York named Ed Lowe discovered the game at a fair in Germany in 1929. The game was called beano and it was still played differently than we do now. An announcer grabbed each wooden coins engraved with this song from a box and if the people who entered this number was then she put a bean (bean is English and means, hence the name Beano) the number on their card beano. The player then loudly shouted beano when he was a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row was full and could then get a prize

Ed Lowe bought the game on the German fair and he introduced it in the United States, but not before he had made some changes to the game. He invited a few friends from his home in New York and played a few games together regularly Beano. A friend of Lowe exclaimed at one point once BINGO instead of Beano and Lowe thought it sounded so good that he immediately decided to change the name of the game into Bingo, this led directly to success.

Barree Wilkes, a priest from Pennsylvania who in money trouble decided to use the bingo game for cash collection would. He bought the game from Lowe, but soon found out that there were many more winners. He told his problem against Lowe and went to a mathematician named Carl Leffler. He asked him his problem and that Carl did so with success. He made about 6,000 bingo cards all were different.

The fundraising of the priest was a great success and this success spread quickly over the rest of the U.S. and the world. There was a bingo instruction manual from which exact rules were later, and even a monthly magazine called about bingo blotter. Currently, bingo is more popular than ever and everywhere over the world. A new way of playing bingo via the internet, like on this site and all this thanks to Ed Lowe Bingo fame in the U.S. and then in the wider world!
